The South Portland School Department provides educational resources for ESL (English Second Language) students at three schools. The High School, Mahoney Middle School and Brown Elementary School are the current ESL centers.
Transportation is provided under the following criteria:
High School:
- All ESL students crossing district lines to attend an assigned center
Bus schedules are mailed to all elementary students approximately two weeks before the start of school. Schedules include bus number, bus stop, and times. High School, Middle School and Elementary School schedules are made available to each student for the new school year in August of each year. Schedules are also posted at each high school and middle school or available by contacting Transportation Services at 767-7714.
ESL elementary schedules with students crossing district lines generally change on a frequent basis during the year as students are added and dropped. High School, Middle School and Elementary School schedules are less subject to change because of the large number of consolidated stops involved
